ABOUT

Light Lovers was a two screen projection work, site-specifically created for two opposing second-floor windows for the 2012 Gertrude Street Projection Festival. Variously amusing, whimsical and sad, Light Lovers explores playfulness, connectedness and loneliness.

From opposite sides of Gertrude Street, two lovers enact a nightly ritual, communicating in shadow from their second story windows. Every evening they explore the potential milestones of their relationship using cardboard cut-outs and their own silhouettes. Are they forbidden from seeing one another in person? Are they too shy to meet? Or do they simply prefer to keep their relationship in the shadows?
